Description

Chevron beads have a long and storied history. They have been made on the island of Murano, Italy since the end of the fourteenth century. These, of course, are much newer. These were probably made in the 1970s. I purchased them out of a collector's basement and they were still packaged in their original bags, each marked, "Made in Italy." These appear to be four-layer chevron beads. There are four layers of color laid on top the core of white. These beads are between 27 mm and 30 mm long and between 16 and 18 mm in width. The chevrons are completely hand-made so some variation of size and color is expected. I currently have a lot of these beads, so if you have a preference for slightly smaller or larger, please drop me a note and I will do my best to accommodate your request. For those of you who are familiar with antique chevron beads, please note that these more modern chevrons are more like a tube bead in shape. The pattern runs closer to the end of the bead than it does in an antique chevron bead. That being said, these are lovely beads with a wonderful, smooth finish, vibrant sapphire blue color with a pleasing brick color at the ends. The hole is 3 mm so this bead will be great for leather and hemp projects. Price is for one bead; if you want 10 or more call for pricing.
