Description

When King Tutankhamun's tomb was discovered in the 1920s, it set off a craze for Egyptian costume jewelry. These vintage glass pieces are Czechoslovakian glass made to look like scarabs. They were never used and sat in a warehouse until I discovered them about 20 years ago. The piece is glass, but it was made to look like lapis lazuli and it is a very good imitation. The incising is subtle, but still noticeable.  I had the pieces bezel set in a hand made sterling silver box clasp. The clasps were made by some of the finest silversmiths in the world who work deep inside the Grand Bazaar in Istanbul. The clasp is 28 mm from ring to ring. It is 14 mm wide and 11 mm high.
